Original tasting and review : This is Trader Joe's Lot 116 Reserve Petite Sirah, Napa Valley, California, 2013, finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled 2 years from vintage date, in July, 2015.

In the glass: Black purple, opaque from an eighth inch of the edge.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bold purple.  From the aroma, seems like this will be flush and full of purple plums.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact rich, mouth-filling with inky blackberry fruit and dramatic levels of tannin.  The fruit flavors open your palate as the  gritty tannins and supporting acids close it down entirely.  Wonderful yin and yang.  Finish glides along forever as the tannins slowly resolve into continuing sips of flavor.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a big plus for its potency on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale and is an easy nod as best value.
