Review: ****+ Odell Brewing Barrel Thief Imperial India Pale Ale, Fort Collins, Colorado = AWESOME!

Original tasting and review : This is beer!: Odell Brewing Barrel Thief Imperial India Pale Ale, Fort Collins, Colorado, finished at 9.4% alcohol, aged in new oak barrels and first sampled in August, 2015.

In the glass: Golden brown with a creamy white head 150% the size of the pour.

On the nose: Poured at cool temperature shows bold hops as you'd expect, but with a nice creaminess, suggesting a softer palate than typical IPA's.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as expected in terms of the blend of creaminess plus hops, but exceeding expectations with a panoply of spices and a nuttiness that brings this to a whole new level.  Finishes slow, clean and exceedingly smooth.

In summary: Overall, rates a rare four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, and even garners a plus for its impeccable balance.  Awesome!
