Original tasting and review : This is Butternut Pinot Noir, California, 2013, finished at 13.9% alcohol and first sampled 2 years from vintage date, in September, 2015.
Inspired by this wine: Chopping celery, we're gonna make one big savory, peppery chopped salad.
In the glass: Deep brick.
On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows white pepper and hints of celery. From the aroma, seems like this will be eclectic and light.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact bringing savory pepper on a base of clean, fresh red berry fruit. Sip lifts quickly into the front of your palate, fades back into your cheeks and brings some tannins along as well. Clean finish.
In summary: Overall, rates two plus stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale
