Original tasting and review : This is Chateau Franc-Cardinal, Francs, Cotes de Bordeaux, France, 2010, finished at 13.5% alcohol and first sampled 5 years from vintage date, in September, 2015.  It is a blend of merlot and cabernet franc with a touch of malbec.

Inspired by this wine:  Balmy summer evening, lying on a blanket and watching the fireworks overhead.

In the glass: Dark ruby.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows tangy, slightly twisted purple.  From the aroma, seems like this will be sharp and bright.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact piquant purple fruit and a slight dark street.  Sip comes on fast with an acid peak and quick clean finish.

In summary: Overall, rates two stars with a plus for vibrancy on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
