Original tasting and review : This is Revelation Cabernet-Merlot, Pays D'Oc, France, 2013, finished at 13% alcohol and first sampled a mere 2 years from vintage date, in September, 2015.

Inspired by this wine:  Throwing on a light flannel fleece jacket, joining friends for dinner.

In the glass: Deep magenta.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows simple, generic merlot grapes.  From the aroma, seems like this will be not differentiated.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much huskier and robust than anticipated, bringing a nice furry flush to the deep blackberry and plum fruit.  Tannins bring a touch of pleasant graininess and hold the bright, clean finish aloft for a few seconds.

In summary: Overall, an easy but layered weekday wine that rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, and is a best value at its attractive price point.
