Original tasting and review : This is Revelation Chardonnay, Pays D'Oc, France, 2013, finished at 13% alcohol and first sampled two years from vintage date, in September, 2015.
Inspired by this wine: We're getting Ginsu knives ready to chop the cucumber salad, but settle on the couch and chat awhile first.
In the glass: Bright, almost brilliant yellow.
On the nose: Poured at cool temperature and swirled vigorously, shows crisp stainless steel with hints of hay and butterscotch and hay. From the aroma, seems like this will be poised between deep hay and bright stainless steel.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact showing mouth-filling soft pear fruit combined with fully bright, perky acids. A nice lift as the sip resolves. It ends up deep in your cheeks.
In summary: Overall, rates an easy three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale for its intriguing contrasts. Best value at the very attractive price point.
