Original tasting and review : This is Vina Eguia Reserva Tempranillo, Rioja, Spain, 2009, finished at 13.5% alcohol and first sampled 6 years from vintage date, in September, 2015.
Inspired by this wine: Walking to the corner store, throwing on a wool scarf against the chill.
In the glass: Deep brick.
On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows shy, deep blackberries.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are soft, layered blackberry, with some velvet tannins. Bright purple wash followed by a brief, clean finish.
In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
