Original tasting and review : This is World Market Merlot Lot 27, Napa County, California, 2012, finished at 14.4% alcohol and first sampled three years from vintage date, in September, 2015.

Inspired by this wine: Enjoying the reception, but the boss has decided to make a speech.

In the glass: Solid brick and magenta.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows tangy but shy red fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be acidic, light and tart.  Surprising, given its high alcohol level.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as suggested by the nose:  plenty of red fruit and brambles come to the fore, with gobs of acidity bringing the sip up into your cheeks.  Hints of charred oak deep in the background.  Purple acids wash for the finish.

In summary: Overall, rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
