Original tasting and review : This is Liberty School Merlot, Central Coast, California, 2013, finished at 113.5% alcohol and first sampled two years from vintage date, in November, 2015.

Inspired by this wine: The aunts and uncles are around the table - pizza's on its way!

In the glass: Deep magenta, opaque from a half inch in.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows some cocoa layered above a deep fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be solid, layered and aromatic.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact a bit simpler than the aromas suggested, bringing bright red currant fruit on top of a just-ripe blackberry base.  Plenty of acids hold the sip to your cheeks.

In summary: Overall, rates two plus stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
