Original Tasting and Review, February, 2010:

By way of background: Rosso da Morazzano is a super-Tuscan-style blend of red wine from the Montescudaio region of Italy, made from sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon and merlot.  This non-vintage-dated offering is finished at 12.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Rosso da Morazzano shows as dark magenta in the glass, opaque to within a half inch of the edge.

On the nose: Poured cool with a brief decant and swirled vigorously, this rosso blend shows a shy nose.  If you dig deep, you get a hint of red berries and broccoli.

On the palate: The first element on the palate is smooth, sweet red berry fruit mixed with fine sandpaper and running along your tongue. The soft tannins create almost a cocoa element to the texture.  Acids are light, so the sandy red chocolate fruit plays to the center of your palate.

And the finish: The medium length finish focuses on a balanced, even wash of middle weight fruit and texture.

In summary: Overall, solid, satisfying, balanced experienced, enriched by the tense but softened tannins.  This doesn't need any more time in bottle, but it also wouldn't be harmed by more waiting. Rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, and a plus is added for its healthy mid-weight balance. This becomes an awesome value at its price point.

Updated review, over a year and a half later, October, 2011:  Consistent color, now showing some brick at the edge.  More nose now, grizzly old red berries.  Slightly more vegetative and tired on the palate now.  Slightly over-the-hill.  Drink within five years of vintage date.  Following long decant, full day kept cool in partially filled bottle: Entirely consistent in nose and palate.
