Original tasting and review : This is Pleasant Valley Brut Champagne, New York State, non-vintage, finished at 12% alcohol and first sampled young, in September, 2015.  The sample was provided by the winery.  Here is a wonderful description of a visit to the Pleasant Valley Wine Co. by a participant in the recent Wine Bloggers Conference.

Inspired by this wine:  Walking through the old barn, wondering what we'll find under the floorboards!

In the glass: Clear with vanilla overtones.

On the nose: Poured at chilled temperature, shows interesting old funk, somewhat brambly. From the aroma, seems like this will be old school and layered.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact showing equal parts perky creaminess and pleasant cut barnyard hay.  Holds bright on the palate and settles quickly and clean.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a plus for its intriguing layers on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Great value when acquired at a competitive price.
