Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Dry Creek Syrah.

Original tasting and review : This is JW Syrah, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, California, 2007, finished at 14.8% alcohol and first sampled eight years from vintage date, in November, 2015.

Inspired by this wine: We're exploring grandpa's basement - what a load of riches!

In the glass: Magenta, opaque from about a half inch in fro the edge.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows a swarthy deep black fruit with overtones of tobacco and charcoal.  From the aroma, seems like this will be deep and contemplative.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact showing bright rich blackberries with a strident core of charred oak.  Finish holds with solid fruit and a bit of acidity climbing gently into your cheeks.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
