Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Lontue, Chile, Malbec.

Original tasting and review : This is Korta Reserve Barrel Selection Malbec, Lontue Valley, Chile, 2008, finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled 8 years from vintage date, in May, 2016.

Inspired by this wine: A warm day, floating leisurely on your back in the pool.

In the glass: Deep brick with orange hints around the edges; opaque in the center.

On the nose (according to colleagues): Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows initial bright tones moving to subdued, layered plum elements with some notes of oak.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact an amalgam of velvet purple fruit, brighter sweet red berries and a surround of soft oaky tannins.  Gentle, dripping and ultimately clean finish.

In summary: Overall, just touches four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a "best value".
