Review: ***+ $$$ MK Broken Vine Zinfandel, Michael Klouda Wines, Lodi, California, 2014

Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Broken Vine Zinfandel.

Original tasting and review : This is MK Broken Vine Zinfandel, Michael Klouda Wines, Lodi, California, 2014, finished at 14% alcohol and first sampled three years from vintage date, in April, 2017.  It is part of a regional tasting of Lodi Wines sponsored by LoCA and represented by Calhoun Wine.

Inspired by this wine: Enjoying a fun spring picnic, wrapping ourselves in a big wool plaid blanket to warm the slight chill.

In the glass: Medium mahogany hues

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bright, furry, raspy raspberries with a mineral violet brush.  From the aroma, seems like this will be bursting with berries and layered.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact bright red, brambly fruit, full of depth and character.  The finish moves across sweet red fruits towards a clean, acid-washed sweep.

In summary: Overall, rates a strong three plus stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
