Review: ***+ $ Big Churn Chardonnay, California, 2016 = BEST VALUE

Original tasting and review : This is Big Churn Chardonnay, California, 2016, finished at a whopping 14.5% alcohol and first sampled two years from vintage date, in February, 2018.  This chardonnay has enough independence and nerve to bill itself in the old school "classic oaky-buttery profile".  I'll look forward to the experience...

Inspired by this wine: We're rolling out sheets of sugar cookie dough for the big bake sale.

In the glass: Light yellow with glints of deeper gold.

On the nose: Poured at chilled temperature and swirled vigorously, shows sliced pears with light drizzle of lemon.

On the palate: Brings sweet - almost sugared - pears to the front of your mouth, filling in your cheeks with ripe, round pear and apple.  The finish has just enough perkiness to eliminate any sense of cloying from the admittedly- sweet-feeling sip.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a big plus for rich pleasure on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Best value at a remarkable price point.

  1. This is the worst Chardonnay I've ever tried to drink. It leaves an absolutely nasty aftertaste. After two sips, I dumped it:(
