Wine Review & Rating: *** $ Satis Dei Syrah Garnacha, de la Tierra de Castilla, Spain, 2018 = BEST VALUE
Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Satis Dei wines.
By way of background: The Satis Dei Syrah Garnacha is a mix of 55% syrah and 45% garnacha. I first spotted it at Trader Joe's and found it a unique combination for the region. It was priced in the high single digit US dollars per bottle. Let's see what it's all about!
Inspired by Satis Dei Syrah Garnacha: A few of us are stretching, ready for a brisk run on this cool spring day.
Specs: This blend is finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled four years from vintage date, in May, 2022.
In the glass: Brilliant black cherry, just moving to opaque in the center.
On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, pushes purple fruit boldly into your nose, seems it will deliver layers of bold, luscious fruit.
On the palate: Sleek, sandy and bold fruit on the entry - very ripe blackberry wrapped in light sandy coating. The sip moves to a more acid presence with a few more seconds on the palate. Finishes relatively rapidly and clean.
In summary: Overall, rates an easy three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, not quite earning a plus, but definitely earning a "best value" designation.
